Students can get 50% concession in Indian railways, however, this concession is applicable only for sleeper class (SL) and 2nd sitting (2S) class. The concession can be obtained by booking the ticket at the counter along with the concession form. If the student possesses an I-Ticket (booked through internet) then he can show the I-Ticket along with the concession form at the ticketing counter and get a fresh ticket issued and the concession amount will be electronically refunded by IRCTC to the student. Note: this is applicable only for I-Ticket and not an E-Ticket booked through the internet.

SC/ST students can get 75% discount by following the similar procedure. Please note that these discounts are applicable only for travelling between home town and the education institute or for educational tours.
