  • 50% Concession to Senior Citizens on Air Tickets

    If you are a senior citizen booking a domestic air ticket or if you are booking a domestic ticket for your parents who are senior citizens you can get 50% discount on the base fare. Senior citizen here is defined as somebody who has crossed 65 years of age in case of Male and 63 years of age in case of females. This senior citizen discount is being offered by Kingfisher Airlines, Jet Airways and Air India. For all these three airlines travellers need to carry a valid proof of age which can be a voter id card, PAN card, passport, or a government issued photo identity card.

    Senior citizen concession on Jet Airways
    To avail this discount on Jet Airways you will need to do following -
    1. Fill up the concession form – Download Here
    2. Submit this form along with a photograph and proof of age to your local travel agent or Jet Airways ticketing counter

    If you are somebody who travels a lot you can get a Jet Airways Senior Citizen card made. Using this card you will be able to get discount on Jet Airways without filling the form each time you travel.

    To get this discount you have to fill up the form (Download here), send it along with proof of age and proof of citizenship (PAN, passport, voter id card) to Air India.

    Additional conditions which have to be met are:
    1. Discount can be availed only on Round Trips
    2. Minimum stay of two nights at the destination is required.
    3. No changes can be made to the routes
    4. Ticket should be purchased minimum 7 days before the date of travel
    5. Read the instructions at the bottom of the form for more conditions

    Dear Sirs,

    When I contacted Air India officials Hyderabad today, they said that there is no
    concession offered for Indian senior citizen to travel from Hyderabad to San Fransisco and return. Whereas in the news page on web, it is written
    50% concession is offered by submitting one application. Will you please
    advise me whether Air India is offering concession, if not any other air line
    is offering concession for senior citizen. Best Regards.

    @Nvncharyulu: It is strange that Air India guys said so. Are you sure you visited an authorized travel agent? Otherwise you can try to get the same discount on Jet Flights to US

    If you are a senior citizen you are entitled to this discount by airindia. You can claim this discount for india to sfo and nyk to india separately.

    My father-in-law is a physically handicapped and a senior citizen as well. He is planning to fly from delhi to pune in the around 15th of December' 2011 alongwith his wife (a senior citizen as well).

    All the concession to physically handicapped and senior citizen are provided by airlines through their call centres / offices. Please get in touch with them direclty.
    You will not find these concessions on websites for airlines or other travel websites like yatra, makemytrip etc.

    @Vilas: The age bar for senior citizen varies across airlines. For e.g., the age bar for senior citizen male is 65 years on Kingfisher, 63 years on Air India. Pl check with other airlines that you wish to travel with.
