  • Who’s that in our office party?

Office-PartyOffice party is one event where it is difficult to understand what kind of character you should display. Your boss is around so you can’t be too open but you are with your friends so you want to have a good time as well. Such conflicting situations in office parties tend to push people to really funny behavior. Here are some typical behaviors:

    1. What happened to him (WHH) – There is a lone engineer who normally keeps to himself and speaks only when spoken to. In the office party you see him passing wise cracks and getting so excited that one would believe that he is going to date Gisele Bunchen. This is the WHH guys

    2. You can run but you can’t hide (YCRCH) – Engineers who seldom come across the fairer sex in their office surroundings get into the YCRCH mode in office parties. They seek out and chase female employees from other departments. Even if they may not be able to strike a conversation they are content with ogling at pretty faces while enjoying free food in the office party. Typical conversations that guys in YCRCH mode do are:

To girl in HR: What a wonderful job you have done in organizing this party
    Girl in HR: Thanks
Brief awkward pause …YCRCH guy moves to find some other HR girl to talk about the party

To girls in Finance: You control everybody’s salary ..I should better be nice to you.
Followed by giggles from both the sides
    Followed by an awkward pause
    YCRCH guy moves on

    3. Don’t care (DC) – Employees who are normally aloof during working hours and are found staring into oblivion during office parties fall into the DC category. People don’t expect much from them either at work or at office parties. May they continue doing what they do (which nobody knows by the way)

Will add more to this list as soon as I attend the next office party
