Comments on: Ragging is considered a highly disgusting act and needs to be contained and eliminated at all costs. Is there someone who feels otherwise? Also what are the legal provisions in this direction?

I agree with Amit, till the time you are sticking to only verbal communication and making it enjoyable its fine, physically you cannot touch anyone.

It becomes ugly when students try to take undue advantage of being "informal", my take on this would be to have it in regulated form but definitly not eliminate it completely.

Well, the kind of ragging that we faced was totally not offensive. It was in fact a lot of fun & a good learning experience. You learn to open up, get to know your batchmates & so many seniors. The ones you interact with at that time are your friends for long. There are so many good memories associated with it. I personally believe the kind of "informal intro" (thats what it was called) that we faced in fact helps you settle in the environment.
But again the ragging at IITK was not the type that we hear from media about at several other institutes. We were not touched by anyone, physical ragging was not allowed and I think that is the way it should be.
Well I am sure you dont face any ragging at IIM-L, just kidding :)
