Around June each year, lakhs of engineering aspirants are struggling to choose an engineering colleges which they can join. If you wish to know how to make this difficult choice read on:

    Step 1
Refer to last year’s cutoff. This will help you to make a realistic choice. There is no point aiming too high when your rank in IITJEE or AIEEE is not too good.

    Step 2
Talk to alumni. If you want to join a particular engineering college it is always a good idea to talk to the alumni of that college before you make your decision

    Step 3
Know what you want to do in life. If your goal is to do either an MBA or join a job after your engineering, it does not matter whether you join an IIT or a NIT. Hence if you are getting NIT this year, there is no point dropping one year to get into an IIT, because your ultimate goal can be achieved very well after graduating from NIT as well.

    Step 4
Look for overall development. Four years of engineering are not just about studies your entire personality is shaped during these years. And it is a known fact that the kind of exposure a student gets in metro cities is very rich as compared to tier 2 towns. Hence if you have a choice between IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi or Mumbai, choice Delhi or Mumbai over Kanpur.

    Step 5
Branch or college. This is the question which every engineering aspirant considers. Again you should know what you want to do in life. If you want to be a mechanical engineer choose a college which has good reputation for its mechanical engieering course. If you want to be a softwar engineer you can choose any college with good placement.
