• How to book train ticket on IRCTC in two steps?

www.irctc.co.in is the site for booking railway tickets online. But most of the time this website is not working properly because of the high traffic it gets. But a simple trick will help you to book your tickets in two simple steps. Read on:

    Step 1

Finding seat availability. First step of the booking is to find seat availability in a particular train on the date of travel. On www.irctc.co.in you need to do multiple availability searches to find the train which has available seats. But cleartrip.com has availability calendar where you just need to enter source, destination, class of travel and date range. It will give you back a list of trains and their availability status on different dates. Note down the train number of the train you want to travel in based on the availability.

    Step 2

Booking the ticket. Cleartrip.com charges you extra money for booking a ticket. So now login to www.irctc.co.in Go to Quick book option. You will find it under ‘Services’. It will open up a single page booking form. Fill all the required values. In train number field put the value you have noted in step 1. Enter all other details and you can book your ticket in one single step.

how can i book tatkal or opening ticket in morning because it runs very slow in mourning.pls give me trick. pls reply me as soon as possible.

  • bharathowto

    @shailesh:
In the morning IRCTC servers face a lot of load due to many people trying to book tatkal tickets. Only way you can increase your chances of booking a tatkal ticket is to know exactly what train you want to travel by beforehand. If you know that just put the train number in the quick booking form along with passenger details. You should use ICICI payment gateway for payments by credit card as it is the fastest. But booking a ticket in the morning is pure luck.

    Hello,

Thanks for posting such a great information on India railways, but I think the main issue with IRCTC is the REFUND.
The refund policy is very bad, it may take more then 3-4 months even after many followups via emails and even send a written complaint to the GM of Indian Railways.. This is the only drawback, our Govt. should take some action and improve the refund policy so that customer do not face at least refund problem.

Aaj Tak has exposed the IRCTC scam, They were showing how the Rail way clerks and the Touts(Dalals) are together, Niether the people in the counter nor the people bhehind the mouse(irctc) gets the tickets,
    Where does this ticket goes.

During the opening of the 90 days window, Most popular trains tickets are booked in lot, They book it with common sounding Indian Name and then tickets are resold to the people for 5 times premium.
the TC in the train does not checks the authentication properly.

The railway clerks are paid a handsome amount everyday for the amount of tickets they book.

IRCTC is also effected with the same issue as the roots are same.

IRCTC website it sucks specially while booking tatkal tickets.Like others me too i faced lot of problems in booking tatkal tickets for kokan kanya train.Kokan kanya train is the only one convenient train which leaves from vt for kokan side specially for Goa daily at 11.05pm having total 196 tatakal seats. But like other trains these trains always runs fully packed. Only during peak season Indian railway runs karwar special.I dont understand if daily many peaople travels in kokan kanya and has more people left out to travel then why more trains are not introduced. Mamta bernerjee if you want to justify your seat then do something about tickets reservation of tatkal tickets instead of providing facilities in introducing unwanted trains.I do my booking thru mobile with ngpay application for booking tatkal tickets and i was succesful 90% times.Instead of relying on irctc website do try ngpay application for booking tatkal tickets you may get more success in getting tickets then irctc website. I recently booked my two tickets from kudal to mumbai through ngpay application for sun evening train as i had to rejoin my off on mon. I was succesful in getting tickets booked at 8.05am and that too i booked when i was travelling in a bus at the ghats near rajapur. There are sepearate webite for agents known as oxicash.in where they pay 10000 rs in advance and used as prepaid facility. This site directs to the replica of irctc after thier login and they can log on to the site with all the details of train ,passengers till final payment option before 8am.At sharp at 8 am they do the payment and these agents get the tickets booked at 8.02am.But layman people cannot afford to use this facility. Its time for the Aaj Tak to do get this scam unearth and penalised people who are behind it as many passemgers will get relief from this. Thanks n Regards,Elvis Fernandes,
